Health & Sports

From Data to Value: Optimised sports experiences and health-promoting technologies

Exercise is the key to health: With the help of ever smaller and digitally linked sensors and smart textiles, meaningful movement data are generated, which provide professional and recreational athletes as well as people in prevention and rehabilitation measures with immediate feedback on their movement. Digital assistance systems can use this data to provide support, advice and movement incentives. Salzburg Research is researching and developing digital technologies and services in order to better understand people’s movement behaviour, optimise sports experiences, promote health or support people in their everyday lives.

Services of Health & Sports

Success Stories

With real-time feedback to the sporting ideal line

Digitalization in professional sports: Salzburg Research developed a method for measuring steering impulses in luge sports based on motion data analysis for the Bobsleigh and Luge Association of Germany.

Mobile gait analysis in everyday life for prosthesis users

Better learning with body gestures

If learning is combined simultaneously with movements, learning success demonstrably increases. Salzburg Research developed a method to test the correct performance of gesture-assisted learning automatically and without special hardware.

Smart Technology Keeps the 55+ Generation Fit

Keep moving – this is how health can be maintained well into old age. Together with partner organizations, Salzburg Research showed in a large field test how smart technology can support and motivate the 55+ generation.

Optimized Sports Experiences through Body Sensor Networks

Sport is about efficient execution of movement for encouragement. In order to support this digitally with the help of sensors, Salzburg Research and partners developed the “SensorHub”, a distributed sensor platform for setting up so-called Body Sensor Networks.
