Globally, a care and treatment deficit for mental diseases of aging is emerging, the depression remains along with dementia one of the most common mental illnesses of elderly people.

Depression of elderly persons typically is detected either not at all or only very late. Usually it arises as a psychological reaction to manifestations associated with age. The 8th e-Health Day Salzburg is devoted to this topic. The event will demonstrate how ICT technologies can help to recognize signs of depression in old age and how older people with depressive episodes can be supported by personalized, age-appropriate interventions.
