Christian Doppler

175 Years Doppler Effect

It has been 175 years since the Salzburg physicist Christian Doppler first published the Doppler Effect named after him. His idea of the “Doppler Effect” (1842) gained fundamental importance in almost all areas of our lives. In the jubilee year, a famous digital monument is set to join the famous Salzburg scientist:

To date, this effect has played a large part in various innovations. At the same time, Doppler was not easy at all – his theory was long and vehemently doubted and smiled at.

Christian Doppler Symposium

Part of the anniversary year is the Christian Doppler Symposium, which will be held from 1st to 3rd June 2017 with many high-profile lecturers predominantly in the Science City Itzling goes over the stage. Admission free!

Christian Doppler Knowledge Platform

In addition, the new knowledge platform www.christian-doppler.net is being developed. A lot of background information about Christian Doppler and his groundbreaking discovery are being edited there.

There, too, the two physics students Lukas and Thomas are experimenting. In the coming months, you will be presenting various experiments on the Doppler Effect. Whether with speakers, tuning fork, water pan or smartphone, the freehand tests invite youto try them out at home. Teachers also offer suggestions for the widest range of experiments on Doppler.

The first two videos are already available. More follow – stay tuned!
