Lange Nacht der Forschung bei Salzburg Research

New Visitor Record at the Long Night of Research

On April 13, 2018, it was time again: Long Night of Research in the whole of Austria. Salzburg Research was represented in a double role: First of all, we were regional coordinator for the Province of Salzburg this year. On the other hand, we designed a location with several stations here in the Science City Itzling. At 5 pm the Long Night of Research in Salzburg was opened in our house by Governor Wilfried Haslauer and Provincial Councilor Martina Berthold. Then it was time to do research, discover and marvel until 11 pm.

Research, Discover and Marvel at Salzburg Research

At Salzburg Research you were able to get to know different social robots and to question their handling of data, to file on your own knees using depth image scanning. In addition, the visitors were able to find out what digital twins are for and how mobile broadband coverage can be measured. Or you tried to teach a trash can to speak. Information about all our stations: Our stations 2018

In cooperation with HTL Salzburg and e² Young Engineers Austria, we have also prepared a lot for children:

  • Meet & greet with various social robots: try, pet, be amazed – and play football
  • On the trail of garbage: teach a manure bucket to talk and manoeuvre a robot to the right dumpster
  • Experience pneumatics live: Simulate a pneumatic circuit design and try it live on the practice wall
  • LEGO® Challenge: Take the challenge and build MINT robots with special LEGO ® kits
  • Also: 3D doodle, Button Maker, etc.

In total, more than 1,500 people visited the Long Night of Research at our location. There were 8,300 at all locations in the federal state.

Press release: 8.300 people hungry for knowledge enthusiastic about research (in German)
