To meet the increasing demands on e-tourism new information services have to be provided for customers and the marketing services of tourist organisations. The B2B Wissensportal (the B2B Knowledge Portal) is a service-orientated Internet platform for tourism service providers. The B2B Knowledge Portal has been developed together with the SalzburgerLand Tourismus Gesellschaft (SLTG) during a two-year research project.
The web based knowledge portal supports regional tourism organisations, hotel operators and other relevant industries in marketing, provides the latest market data, and offers innovative services for customer relationship management. Various software components, including a Statistical Tool, a Virtual Marketing Adviser and an Electronic Morning Mail application complement the services of the SLTG web platform.
Existing information modules can be easily adopted as great care has been taken to make the platform as open and easy-to-use as possible.
To enhance the service character of the web platform tourism providers are able to make customised queries and access different kinds of data sources in the platform’s comprehensive database. User-friendliness and a pleasant design have been of particular importance in the development of the state-of-the-art software architecture.
