Transfer Center for Trustworthy AI
Salzburg Research is collaborating with the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences to set up a transfer center for privacy engineering, which will serve as a platform for collaborative research and knowledge transfer in the field of trustworthy AI. The aim is to develop scientifically sound methods and technical solutions for privacy-friendly machine learning and to implement these in industry and public institutions.
Through the introduction of the AI Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Europe is establishing international benchmarks for the ethical deployment of artificial intelligence. This clear regulatory framework protects fundamental rights and opens up new opportunities for innovative, trustworthy AI applications.
To harness this potential more effectively, the Transfer Center for Privacy Engineering was established at the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (FHV), in collaboration with Salzburg Research. The aim is to combine data protection and AI innovation, leveraging the European approach as a competitive advantage for companies.
Privacy-friendly solutions for the region
At the Transfer Center, Salzburg Research and FHV pool their expertise in privacy engineering, data safety, data security, and data ethics. Together, they develop technical solutions and scientifically sound methods for privacy-friendly machine learning. The center focuses primarily on application-oriented research and targeted knowledge transfer in business, administration, and society. This establishes the center as a hub of scientific excellence and a driving force for responsible digitalization in the region.
In addition to developing new methods, the Transfer Center helps companies and organizations by running pilot projects, workshops, and training sessions. This means that not only is data protection-friendly AI researched, but it is also actively implemented and adapted to the requirements of the European market.
The Transfer Center for Privacy Engineering is an open space for cooperation, acting as a catalyst for responsible digital transformation in the region.
The center is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Investment for Employment and Growth (IEB) program.
