October 9, 2020: Long Night of Research DIGITAL

In 2020, the Long Night of Research will take place digitally for the first time. In line with the motto “Digital Transformation”, a section of the originally planned attendance program will be offered virtually from October 9, 2020. Salzburg Research also provides digital insights into current research.

Curiosity is the driving force behind knowledge, research and innovation – an important factor for economy and society, especially in times like these. That is why numerous exciting insights into science and technology will be offered digitally from October 9, 2020. Presenting complex topics in a clear, exciting and understandable way is also the aim of the researchers in the digital Long Night of Research.

Numerous live streams will start on October 9, 2020 from 2 pm to 10 pm More than 500 contributions from all over Austria can be seen on www.langenachtderforschung.at. The entire online program is available until December 30, 2020.

Salzburg Research Gives Virtual Insights:

  • Can technology make movement more enjoyable? Movement is the key to health: sensors provide feedback on the correct execution of movement. (Salzburg Research)
  • Can social robots recognize our feelings? Social robots recognize our feelings by means of facial expressions or language and can react sensitively and individually. (Salzburg Research)
  • Why do automated vehicles need reliable broadband? Automated vehicles sometimes come into situations in which a person has to intervene. To do this, however, communication has to work reliably. (Salzburg Research)

In addition to Salzburg Research, the Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg, the private university Schloss Seeburg and numerous other research institutions throughout Austria also provide virtual insights and present current highlights from their research work.
