The performance of mobile networks is subject to strong fluctuations. The specific “up to” bandwidths can often only be achieved in selected regions and times. But what does the actual performance look like? Salzburg Research has developed a test system.

The test system developed by Salzburg Research can be easily installed in vehicles and permanently determines the achievable mobile data rate of the mobile network. The measurements are evaluated and displayed on a map. In this way, inadequately supplied areas can be quickly identified. With these results, the state of Salzburg can purposefully set priorities within the framework of the broadband initiative in order to better connect underserved areas. In addition, the measuring system can also be carried on hikes, skiing or cycling. This way, reliable connections can be guaranteed for leisure and tourism.
