SMEs: Labs support technological innovation

Salzburg Research, together with five partners form Italy and Austria, has won the Interreg project Labs.4.SMEs. The aim of the project is to strengthen the cooperation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with labs (fablabs, digital labs, etc.) in order to promote technological innovations.

“Labs are places where innovators and change makers can express their ideas, be creative, learn, advise and invent,” says Veronika Hornung-Prähauser, Head of Innovation Lab at Salzburg Research. These open workshops offer companies different services, which are particularly advantageous in the development phase in order to drive innovation. So far, these workshops and, above all, the facilities and services they offer are not widely known to many small and medium-sized businesses. The transnational project would like to remedy this.

The opening of Labs.4.SMEs took place in February, in which the Salzburg Research Company is involved together with the project partners ECIPA, FABLAB Castelfranco Veneto, Confartigianato Trieste, IVH Bozen and FH Kufstein Tirol. “We are delighted to be able to bring the company in the Salzburg region closer to new innovative methods and services that they support, for example, in the areas of rapid prototyping and innovation processes,” emphasizes Veronika Hornung-Prähauser.

Further information on the Interreg project Labs.4.SMEs can be found in the press release (German).
