Transfer Center for Privacy Engineering

Through the partnership between FH Vorarlberg and Salzburg Research, the region-specific areas of strength – ‘Data Science’ and ‘Life Sciences’ – are being brought together for the first time in this research and transfer centre, thereby specifically addressing the cross-regional interdependence of the information technology and healthcare sectors.

The research focus lies at the intersection of these two areas of strength, on privacy-friendly machine learning with sensitive data, and thus primarily addresses research, technology and innovation in the fields of ‘data safety’, ‘data security’ and ‘data ethics’. Research expertise is being developed in scientifically sound methods, processes, algorithms and systems for extracting insights, patterns and conclusions from personal, sensitive data, and is being applied in the development of scientifically, ethically and legally vetted digital health and business analytics applications. In addition, transfer skills will be developed to enable the business community and the region to benefit sustainably from the specialist knowledge and proven technological expertise of this centre.
