PegaSense – Sensor-equipped horse hoof sock for gait analysis and inflammation prevention

Innovative equine diagnostics: A smart hoof sock combining pressure and temperature sensing to objectively assess gait parameters and detect early signs of inflammation in the fetlock joint.

Pegasox is developing “PegaSense”, a hoof sock fitted with pressure and temperature sensors that records gait parameters (ground contact time, stride rate, symmetry) and signs of inflammation in the fetlock joint. The innovation lies in the simultaneous analysis of multimodal data under real-world conditions and its comparison with reference systems (XSens, WCN2).

Salzburg Research is providing scientific support for the project: development and validation of algorithms, analysis of sensor data, comparison with reference systems, development of methodological approaches for diagnostic markers, and technological evaluation of the prototype.
