EVIS.AT – Real-time traffic information Austria

Actors in the Austrian road transport mobility landscape combine their data in EVIS.AT to create a high-quality national traffic situation overview.

In order to make the overall transport system safer, more efficient, and more sustainable using real traffic data, as well as to shift the modal split in favor of the eco-mobility through significantly improved information, the EVIS.AT project was implemented in recent years and co-financed with federal funds. The EVIS.AT project was an important building block for bundling the expertise of those responsible for transport, road operators, and ITS operators in private motorized transport in Austria. The digital future of transport also requires control options for road operators, e.g., with regard to integrated navigation systems, connected vehicles, and automated driving. Together with the Austria-wide traffic graph GIP and the Austrian Traffic Information Service (VAO), EVIS.AT represents an important building block for traffic control and traffic information in digital mobility.

EVIS.AT has been operational since October 2022. This ensures the sustainable achievement of EVIS.AT’s objectives. By collecting and providing traffic data, the EVIS.AT operating partners pursue the goal of making a significant contribution to comprehensive traffic information, traffic management, and control options for road operators and those responsible for traffic, as well as for traffic analyses, and ultimately to traffic safety and fluidity. The relevant traffic data (planned and unplanned events, current and forecast traffic conditions) are collected by the EVIS.AT partners and made available to interested third parties via a clearing interface and data hub.

The states of Salzburg, Tyrol, and Vorarlberg, as well as the Salzburg Research Research Association, are collaborating under the ITS Austria West partnership. For the operation of EVIS.AT, the current and forecast traffic situation and the central FCD service for processing and providing Austria-wide floating car data are jointly provided to all EVIS.AT partners.
