• SNML-TNG: Salzburg NewMediaLab – The Next Generation (2010-2013)

  Salzburg NewMediaLab – The Next Generation (SNML-TNG) is the competence centre in Austria that takes the knowledge and media industry into the Future Internet, helping its partners to address the new challenges arising with the paradigmatic shift that is currently affecting the industry. SNML-TNG conducts research on the socio-economic and the technological level in the fields of Social Computing, Social Media & Enterprise 2.0, Semantic Web & Linked Data, and Multimedia Annotations. A common trait of all fields is what we call “Linked Media”, which is therefore at the heart of our research programme. Linked Media in our definition is the convergence of linked people, linked content, and linked data.

• myTV – my Semantically Enhanced Personalized TV Experience (2010-2013)

  myTV’s aim is to support Austrian IPTV providers to reach the next level in the Internet TV evolution by providing methods and tools that lower the hurdles for content and infrastructure providers.

• IKS – Building an interactive knowledge stack for CMS platforms (2009-2012)

  IKS develops an open source stack for knowledge management, broadens the reach of semantic CMS technology and serves as a collaboration and software development hub for the semantic CMS community.

• iMedication – a Rule-based Expert Network for Intelligent Medication (2010-2012)

  Safe medication is a growing concern in the health sector. Doctors are no longer able to keep abreast of the steadily growing amount of drugs and their potential for unintended interactions and adverse drug events (ADE).

• KiWi – Knowledge in a Wiki (2008-2011)

  KiWi – Knowledge in a Wiki is an EU-funded project (No 211932) combining the wiki philosophy with methods of the Semantic Web, aiming to develop a new approach to knowledge management.

• iCARDEA – An Intelligent Platform for Personalized Remote Monitoring of the Cardiac Patients with Electronic Implant Devices (2010-2011)

  The iCARDEA Project develops an intelligent platform to automate and personalise the fol-low-up of the cardiac patients with implantable devices.

• emteba – Emerging Technology Base (2008-2010)

  The emteba knowledge base addresses users and experts in emerging technology fields. The aim of the emteba platform is to boost the visibility of projects in these areas and contribute to the emerging web of linked data.

• SNML-SAMY – Single Point of Access Semantic Media Repository Framework (2008-2010)

  The SAMY project (“Single Point of Access Semantic Media Repository Framework“) deals with typical problems of historically grown media art archives. Its goal is to develop generic solutions based on an open source software framework that supports the functionalities of an asset management system as well as the administration of semantic networks based on an ontology.

• ComStudy – Successful virtual community building and technological support (2008-2010)

  The success of new and participative applications of the Web 2.0 is deeply connected with the usage by virtual communities. Their involvement is essential for the success of these Web-related projects. Hence, the question about successful community building is crucial and gets a lot of attention.

• SNML-FCP – Future Content Platforms (2006-2010)

  The traditional way of creating content involves many different steps and often is a time-consuming as well as expensive endeavor. Contents are often restricted by the respective type of media they are to be used for (e.g. text and images for a newspaper), which also mostly leave little space for user-generated contents. However, current developments on the internet like “social software” and the “semantic web” are gradually changing the way contents are consumed.

• SNML-InterEDU – Educational materials for teachers and students (2006-2009)

  The objective of the “Intelligent Edumedia Repository“ (InterEDU) project is to develop an online platform for digital multimedia educational materials (Edumedia Repository).

• SNML-SMA – Digital Media Archives (2007-2009)

  Digital media archives – together instead of alone? The digital archives of today’s medium-sized and major companies are more than just a collection of documents and rows of numbers. They also contain a huge amount of images, technical drawings, animations and audiovisual materials (e.g. voice recordings and video features). With the production of digital materials becoming easier, the demands for archivists are gradually rising.

• ImportNet – Setting up collaboration in virtual enterprises for mechatronics design (2006-2009)

  ImportNET will  provide a framework which builds a base to support cross-domain engineering (mechanics, electronics, embedded software) tasks within an intercultural collaboration in an efficient way.

• LIVE – Staging of Media Events (2006-2009)

  LIVE attempts to radically improve on the linear approach to TV broadcasting of live sporting events by delivering digital technologies and content formats that enable viewers to shape their own personal and highly interactive viewing experience.

• GRISINO – Grid, Semantics and Intelligent Objects (2006-2008)

  The GRISINO research project combines Grid computing, semantic web services and intelligent objects.

• QVIZ – Query and context based visualization of time-spatial cultural dynamic (2006-2008)

  QVIZ is an European research project started in order to enhance user access to European National Archive material by providing spatial-temporal query visualization environment based admininistrative units and other facets; and a collaborative community tools for social knowledge building in order to further enhance access to materials in a more diverse semantic network.
